Cinemolivas Productions Sci-Fi Franchise “JANCROON” Takes Big Step
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) November 14, 2013 -- In this age of repeats, sequels and re-boots, new stories and original screenplays in Hollywood are fast becoming a forgotten art. Enter Cinemolivas Productions new project JANCROON (jane-croon), an original screenplay written by its founder Louie Olivas.
“We’re in an age, when you compare it to a card trick, if you keep showing the same card trick over and over, people will catch on and become disinterested, desensitized, “ said producer Simon Miller. “Louie has crafted an extraordinary sci-fi piece with characters we will actually care about. Something very rare in today’s spectacle movies.”
This rarity has caught the attention of Academy Award winning visual effects house WETA Workshop, whose credits include THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, KING KONG, and AVATAR. Weta Workshop is currently in discussions with Cinemolivas Productions to provide creative and manufacturing services on the Jancroon project. “We look forward to the prospect of working with the Jancroon team on their exciting sci-fi film project in the near future,” Says head of WETA Workshop Sir Richard Taylor.
Also on board is game developer Foundation 9 Entertainment, one of the largest independent game companies in the U.S. and United Kingdom, as well as producers Robert Watts, co-producer of the original STAR WARS films and Indiana Jones series, Simon Miller, and Alexandra Bekiaris, executive producer of the Oscar nominated film MOST.
JANCROON is a transmedia property for multiple platforms, including video games, mobile apps, and graphic novels, with opportunities for exploitation as toys and merchandise. Initial concepts have been done by Terryl Whitlatch of the STAR WARS prequel fame. "The Jancroon IP is perfectly suited to launch across multiple game platforms including mobile, PC and the new consoles with linked portals to the graphic novel, toys, and other forms of media. A strong IP has become increasingly vital to succeed in the mobile space and we're excited about the possibilities of Jancroon,” said Dan Murray, Vice President of Business Development at Foundation 9 Entertainment.
“We’ve had tremendous feedback from toy companies as well, so the overall global potential of the franchise is extremely high. Of course, at the center of it all is a great story…a new story. Hollywood hasn’t found a new story interesting enough to tell on a grand scale right now. Cinemolivas plans on filling that void,” said Olivas.
Jancroon is the first installment of a trilogy of what Olivas calls a sci-fi biblical epic. “It’s the story of a miracle that happens to four insignificant young men. It’s a story of hope…” says Olivas. “We’re combining genres that haven’t really been done before. The popular belief is that new stories and franchises can’t begin from original screenplays. That’s simply not true, as history has shown. It’s been done before, it can be done again. ”
