Barcan Woodward Family Mediation has appointed Lisa Parkinson, one of the founders of family mediation in the UK, to its Bristol-based team in the role of consultant and part-time mediator.
Lisa is a highly respected mediator who co-founded the UK’s first family mediation service in 1978. She is a Vice President of the Family Mediators Association (FMA), having co-founded the FMA in 1988, and was FMA’s Director from 1988 to 1994. She is involved in training family mediators in the UK and Europe and is a regular contributor and keynote speaker at international conferences on mediation and family law reform.
Lisa’s book ‘Family Mediation’ (Sweet & Maxwell, 1997, 2nd edition Family Law 2011) has been published in six languages. She is also the author of numerous articles and papers in family law publications. Lisa has a special interest in helping children and young people, as well as parents, in managing the changes and adjustments of parental separation and divorce.
