CuVerro® Looks to Capitalize on Growing Interest in Antimicrobial Copper at Healthcare Design Conference 2013
(PRWEB) November 14, 2013 -- When the Healthcare Design Conference opens in Orlando on Saturday, antimicrobial copper will take center stage, both on the agenda and in the exhibit hall.
That’s a reflection of rapidly growing interest in the powerful bacteria-killing properties of the material among healthcare industry decision-makers, says Mark Visnack, Manager of CuVerro® Products, North America’s largest provider of bactericidal copper alloys.

Attendees will get plenty of answers to both questions at HCD 2013, the premier event for professionals involved in design decisions that impact the safety, operation, clinical outcomes, and financial success of healthcare facilities. With attendance of more than 4,300 expected, HCD is the industry’s best-attended annual conference and by far the biggest event of the year for CuVerro.
In the first major session of the 4-day agenda, architectural specialist and project manager H. Wayne Seale of the Copper Development Association will present a seminar entitled, “Use of Antimicrobial Copper Touch Surfaces in Healthcare Settings: Evidence and Design Considerations.” His presentation will include results of EPA Good Laboratory Testing and peer-reviewed evidence of the efficacy of antimicrobial copper touch surfaces in reducing bacterial contamination on a variety of furnishings and fixtures, including railings, door hardware, light switches, cabinet hardware, countertops, and more.
“The technical information presented at this seminar is the foundation of the bactericidal benefits CuVerro offers for reducing bacteria on touch surfaces,” Visnack says of the CDA seminar. Which is indeed the case, since CuVerro bactericidal copper alloys are the first class of solid touch surface materials approved by the EPA to make public health claims about their inherent bactericidal characteristics.
Visnack expects the seminar to be exceptionally well-attended, thanks again to strong interest in the subject as well as its “first in show” time slot at 11:00am on Saturday. And when the crowd emerges for their first look at the Exhibit Hall, Visnack says CuVerro will be prepared to help them capitalize on the benefit of bactericidal copper.
The company will have a large corner booth (#810) that has been completely redesigned with new graphics and component displays to showcase product samples from a number of manufacturers from the CuVerro network. Two of those companies, Colonial Bronze and Just Manufacturing, will have their own booths in the same section of the hall, while a third, Rocky Mountain Hardware, will have a representative on hand in the CuVerro booth. Finally, products made with CuVerro alloys will also be on display at the Copper Development Association’s booth (#707).
Visnack sees this heightened presence as the perfect way to engage HCD’s audience of key healthcare decision-makers, including architects, interior designers, hospital executives and administrators, facility managers and others. CuVerro Marketing Coordinator Jill Miller agrees, noting the presence of CuVerro alliance manufacturers signals a shift in the focus of the marketing message for CuVerro at HCD 2013 and beyond.
“Until recently, our primary target was manufacturers we could develop into a strategic alliance,” she notes. “Now that we have a well established network of manufacturers, we can shift our focus to end users and making the case for CuVerro to key hospital and healthcare decision makers.”
