Shreveport-Bossier Welcomes Holiday Season with November Events
SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER, LA (PRWEB) November 15, 2013 -- A busy calendar of holiday events, ranging from shopping extravaganzas to festivals, parades, live music and more, has kicked off in Shreveport-Bossier.
Traditionally, the arrival of the holiday season in Shreveport-Bossier has been marked by the lighting of a 40 foot-tall Christmas tree during a lighting ceremony at the Outlets at the Louisiana Boardwalk in Bossier City. That popular family event will return, 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21, with live holiday music, family photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, a Toys for Tots toy drive and more. Admission is free. The 39th annual Les Boutiques de Noel at Bossier Civic Center, a three-day shopping extravaganza that annually draws an estimated 100,000 shoppers to browse goods offered by more than 100 vendors, will also open on Thursday, Nov. 21 and will run through Saturday, Nov. 23. The Les Boutiques de Noel marketplace opens each day at 10 a.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and military, and free for children ages 12 and under. The Bossier Civic Center is located at 620 Benton Road in Bossier City.
Another unique marketplace, Artspace Shreveport’s “Presents” exhibit, opened to the public on Thursday, Nov. 7 and will run through Wednesday, Dec. 18. “Presents” is a juried exhibition of 13 regional artists and artisans who have been selected to exhibit and sell their original works of art. Artworks will include a diverse mixture of holiday ornaments, specialty food products,paintings, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry and more. Admission is free. Artspace is located at 710 Texas Street in downtown Shreveport.
Sci-Port: Louisiana’s Science Center, a 92,000 square-foot science and entertainment center located at 820 Clyde Fant Parkway in downtown Shreveport, will introduce a new holiday celebration in 2013. “Deck the Dome! A Holiday Laser Light Show” will be presented at 1 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays, Nov. 30-Dec. 29, inside of Louisiana’s only IMAX Dome Theater. The 20-minute program will include laser lights, LEDs, holiday music and more. Admission is $6 for the general public or $4 for Sci-Port members.
The 30th annual Christmas in Roseland, a popular holiday extravaganza held at the Gardens of the American Rose Center, will open to the public on Friday, Nov. 29 and will run through Sunday, Dec. 22 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, 5:30-10 p.m. Christmas in Roseland features thousands of twinkling Christmas lights, nightly live entertainment, photos with Santa and more, all taking place on the 118-acre grounds of the American Rose Society headquarters at 8877 Jefferson Paige Road in Shreveport. Admission is $5 per person or $20 per carload.
