On November 29, 2013 the Palace Hotel unveils a magnificent Gingerbread Chateau designed by Executive Pastry Chef Renee Cade.
Measuring 8' by 16', the display features a three room chateau with a hand-tied, licorice thatched roof. In the marzipan made kitchen, apple elves prepare a holiday feast. The kitchen table is laden with decadent delights – made entirely out of edible ingredients. The foyer is adorned, in true Palace style, with a sugar chandelier that glistens and sparkles with crystallized confection. The living room showcases an animated celebratory scene with a sugar and spice decorated tree. Outside, the chateau is beautifully landscaped with candied planter boxes filled with cookie crumb soil and fondant flowers. A moving wafer waterwheel and chocolate pond complete the French country holiday garden.
Chef Renee’s Gingerbread Chateau was inspired by the French elements in The Garden Court. Knowing that The Garden Court itself is a landmark showpiece, she drew from its elegance, warmth and beauty to create something true to the hotel’s Luxury Collection brand. “At the Palace Hotel, we continue to be inspired to create new luxury experiences for our guests” commented Chef Cade. “We welcome guests to the Palace where they indulge, savor and enjoy all things luxury. Luxury is about decadence. What could possibly be more decadent than a house made of butter, sugar, candy and chocolate?”
The Palace Hotel Gingerbread Chateau will be on display in the lobby from November 29, 2013 through December 30, 2013. In the true holiday spirit of giving, the Palace Hotel is generously supporting SFCASA with a monetary contribution. SFCASA is a nonprofit organization that focuses on volunteer advocacy for abused and neglected children. Palace guests can also join in supporting SFCASA by making donations through the Gingerbread Chateau mailbox.
