Tarek Hatab Joins HNTB Corporation As Project Director
New York (PRWEB) November 14, 2013 -- HNTB Corporation, one of the nation’s leading infrastructure solutions and program delivery firms, has hired Tarek Hatab, PE, as project director in its New York City office.
In his new role, Hatab will expand and enhance HNTB capabilities in project management and construction management, focusing in the areas of rail and transit as well as waterfront infrastructure revitalization.
Hatab brings more than 26 years of experience in engineering and construction with a strong emphasis on transportation, transit and waterfront/marine projects. His background includes program management/planning, design management, construction management and construction, and asset maintenance and management.
“Tarek brings to HNTB unequaled project management expertise in the field of railroads and marine facilities, and a proven track record for ahead-of-schedule and under-budget delivery,” said Sharif Abou-Sabh, PE, senior vice president at HNTB. “As our clients grapple with tough funding and delivery issues, Tarek can offer expertise to help solve some of the toughest mobility issues in the country.”
Hatab’s background includes the New York City Transit Authority, where he was lead construction manager and deputy program manager. He has also served as senior vice president for a New York City project/construction management firm, where his clients included the New York City Department of Transportation, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and New York City Economic Development Corporation.
Hatab’s experience includes restoration of the Brooklyn waterfront along with conversion of piers and surrounding areas into Brooklyn Bridge Park — a public park incorporating water and land features; rehabilitation of the St. George Ferry Terminal on Staten Island, N.Y., as well as rehabilitating a number of subway stations in various parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan.
Hatab earned his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Alexandria University, Egypt, and a Master of Science in civil engineering from Columbia University. He is a professional engineer in New York State and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Since January, HNTB has added more than 50 professionals in New York and expects that hiring trend to continue this year in response to extensive and immediate transportation and funding needs in the region. With nearly a century of service in the New York area, HNTB continues to grow in size and service offerings to clients from nine tri-state office locations, currently employing almost 400 full-time professionals. The New York City office previously was named ENR New York’s Design Firm of the Year and a “Best Companies to Work For” by Crain’s New York Business.
