Transportation and Mobility: The Road to a Smarter, More Sustainable Future
White Plains, NY (PRWEB) November 18, 2013 -- MetroPool announced today details for its upcoming November 20th event. Steven Wysmuller, IBM’s Global Services Leader for Environmental Affairs & Compliance will discuss his work with the IBM Smarter Cities Challenge and the integral role that transportation and mobility play in creating sustainable communities. The Smarter Cities Challenge is a competitive grant program in which IBM awarded a total of $50 million worth of technology and services to 100 municipalities worldwide through 2013. IBM is a long time MetroPool board-member company.
“We’re excited to showcase IBM’s Smarter Cities Challenge work with transportation which identifies opportunities to utilize technology and collaboration in seeking solutions to growing transportation and environmental challenges,” John Lyons, President of MetroPool offered. “Program findings align with our strategic shift that builds on partnerships and facilitation of services that support public and private entities in pursuit of their sustainability goals and in building more resilient communities.”
Lyons’ opening remarks will highlight how technology, information management and public/private partnerships are leading MetroPool in a new strategic direction. A critical part of the new direction are alliances with strategic partners like EcoDriving Solutions. “As a new MetroPool partner, we’re thrilled to be offering our efficient driving solutions through such a well-positioned and respected organization,” said Drew DeGrassi, President of EcoDriving Solutions. “MetroPool is a natural partner as we bring cost savings and environmental impact to the region,” he added.
