From its beginnings with lubricant and maintenance-free basic linear bearings, the linear technology department at igus has progressed to linear guides, lead screws, and fully assembled units. Up until now, the main focus has been on manual operation in format adjustments. Now, the company is expanding its low price, quick delivery, complete solutions promise by adding a motor to their ready-to-fit linear units.
Currently, the small motor range covers stepper motors in sizes NEMA17 and NEMA23. The motors are optionally available with encoder and/or brake. Stepper motors are a good accessory to the DryLin® linear drives due to their outstanding cost-effectiveness, precision, and simple operation. The units work reliably in a wide range of environmental conditions (depending on the IP protection class chosen). The NEMA standard also guarantees global availability. Alternatively, igus has designed the drive units for lubricant-free linear movements in such a way that they can also be driven by competitor stepper motors. To achieve this, igus offers customers who already have a motor a quick-fit connection by means of an aluminum spacer and motor flange to fit the NEMA motor.
New: extremely light axis with NEMA17 motor
The new linear axis DryLin E SAW-0630 with NEMA 17 motor is driven via a trapezoidal or high-helix thread lead screw. Numerous pitches from .06 to .6 inch (1.5 – 15 mm) are available. The drive lead screws are supported by ball bearings. The lead screw nuts are made of tribologically optimized iglide® high-performance polymers, and guarantee freedom from lubrication over the entire stroke length, and entire life of the bearing. Almost all the components used for the ready-to-fit linear unit are made from plastic and aluminum, meaning the system is extremely light weight. The SAW-0630 is ideal for simple lubricant-free format adjustments, feed movements, and the handling of components. The new driven axis is available from stock within a few days, in the exact length specified, and including the motor.
Tribologically optimized polymer gliding film
The linear guide itself is based on the maintenance free DryLin W system, is comprised of a bearing housing and tribologically optimized polymer gliding film for very low friction and wear. The design makes a flexible and modular structure possible, making assembly easy. There a numerous design possibilities to choose from, with 12 rail profiles available, single and double rail options, and the choice between individual bearings or complete slides. These guides are also available as linear axes with a toothed belt drive.
igus® develops industry-leading Energy Chain® cable carriers, Chainflex® continuous-flex cables, DryLin® linear bearings and linear guides, iglide® plastic bushings, and igubal® spherical bearings. These seemingly unrelated products are linked together through a belief in making functionally advanced, yet affordable plastic components and assemblies. With plastic bearing experience since 1964, cable carrier experience since 1971 and continuous-flex cable since 1989, igus provides the right solution from over 80,000 products available from stock.
