On November 12, 2013, a former employee of Freedom Mortgage Corporation (“Freedom Mortgage”), filed suit in New Jersey federal court on behalf of herself and all other similarly situated current and former employees seeking unpaid overtime wages and liquidated damages under the Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”). According to the complaint, Plaintiff and those similarly situated were non-exempt, hourly-paid mortgage underwriters, eligible for overtime pay under the FLSA. The complaint alleges Defendant required Plaintiff and other mortgage underwriters to work overtime but did not pay them for all of the overtime hours they worked over forty (40) per week.
Freedom Mortgage Corporation, headquartered in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, is a privately held full-service residential mortgage lender and originator licensed in all 50 state in the United States.
