Sara Squarstoff Wins Alaska Seafood Instagram Content
Juneau, Alaska (PRWEB) November 15, 2013 -- The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) is delighted to announce Sara Squarstoff as the winner of the “Show Us Your Alaska Seafood” Instagram Contest. Her photo of home-canned Alaska salmon impressed the ASMI board and committee members, who voted on the winner from a group of 3 finalists that had been selected from over 100 entries. As the winner, Squarstoff will take home a winter’s worth of Alaska seafood and a GoPro Hero camera.
Born and raised on Kodiak Island, Squarstoff is an artist and chef at the Kodiak Paradise Lodge in Port Lions, Alaska. As a Native Alaskan from a commercial fishing family, she has a passion for seafood and draws inspiration from Alaska waters. “Most of my protein comes from the sea. When I cook, it’s fresh—a lot of my dishes are under 10 ingredients. I like to keep my food geared to my heritage and lifestyle,” Squarstoff said.
ASMI launched the contest during October to celebrate National Seafood Month.

About Alaska Seafood
The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) is a partnership of the State of Alaska and the Alaska seafood industry. ASMI works to promote the benefits of wild and sustainable Alaska seafood and offer seafood industry education.
For more than 50 years, Alaska has been dedicated to sustainable seafood. It’s so essential to our way of life that our constitution mandates that fish are “utilized, developed and maintained on the sustained yield principle.” The seafood industry is Alaska’s largest private sector employer, and as a result, Alaskans understand the need to protect the fisheries and surrounding habitats for future generations. We’re proud of our leadership in sustainable management, which has led to an ever-replenishing supply of wild seafood for markets around the world.
