Announcement: GuitarControl.com Releases “Lead Guitar Lesson - How to Practice Improvising on Guitar”
(PRWEB) November 16, 2013 -- In this lead guitar lesson Jon talks about improvising a solo over a backing track. Lead Guitar Improvisation is where a guitarist can create a melody over a rhythm on the fly in real time. This is a skill that can be learned over time with the use of licks and techniques acquired as a guitarist. MacLennan explains that after you have learned and memorized some scales and licks the next step is to improvise what you have learned over a backing track. Jon shows an example of a simple melody that is only three notes out of a Minor Pentatonic Scale, the notes A, B, and D which he plays on the third and second strings. The A is on the second fret of the third string, the B is on the fourth fret of the third string and the D is on the third fret of the second string. He plays the melody in 1/8th notes as A-B-D-B and then shows how you can repeat the same melody using different notes and they will work well together. The second segment is B-D-E-D, again as 1/8th notes and on the third and second strings. MacLennan then demonstrates this by playing it over the backing track and continues with more variations such as playing it in reverse as well as other variations that will have the novice improvising in no time.
