Digital Leaf, a small independent publisher from London, wins one of children's publishing's top awards.

It's a beautiful book and little girls the world over will love it!

The innovative book and app publisher was awarded the Golden Pinwheel prize for Best International Original Picture Book at the Shanghai Children's Book Fair last Saturday 9 November 2013 for its title 'Oh, What A Tangle!'

Written by former primary school teacher Anita Pouroulis and illustrated by Monika Filipina Trzpil in her debut, 'Oh, What a Tangle' was described as 'elegantly written,' on 'The Guardian's' children's books site. 'Wonderfully funny,' said the popular books blog, The Bookbag.

'Oh, What A Tangle,' tells the story of Kiki, a young girl who is too busy having a good time to brush her hair. Unbrushed and unloved, it soon becomes one big barnet that is full of surprises. It's a nightmare for her Mum, but this is no bad hair day for Kiki. She loves it when a family of birds moves in.

Digital Leaf was started in 2011 by Neil Jeffries and Dustin Brooks. Managing director Neil Jeffries said he was 'hugely grateful to Anita and Monika for giving us such a gorgeous book to work with.'

'We were in Shanghai with some of the world's biggest publishers. These days there are many challenges facing small presses and it was a great thrill to show the rest of the world what we've achieved,' he said.

'Oh, What A Tangle!' is available to order from all book stores and online. RRP£5.99.

'Oh, What A Tangle' has also been developed as an animated interactive app available from the iTunes App Store and the Google Play store.
