Columbia's New “Click & Brick” High School Hosts Open House November 19th, Media Preview Day, November 18th
Columbia, South Carolina (PRWEB) November 15, 2013 -- Columbia’s newest “click & brick” high school will open its doors on November 19, for students and families interested in a flexible and hands-on learning environment. The open house event is from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at The Learning Center located at 200 Arbor Lake Drive in Columbia. This event is free and open to the public.
The Learning Center is a hybrid learning environment that fuses both virtual and traditional school settings. The Learning Center, which can accommodate about 100 students daily, is an extension of Provost Academy South Carolina. The center provides students who are enrolled in Provost’s online school with additional hands-on academic assistance in their daily studies. Students who attend the center receive one-on-one instruction in language arts and math courses, have the opportunity to complete their course work on-site in a computer lab with the assistance of instructors, and receive character education and career training through Provost’s guidance counselors - thus creating a “click & brick” learning environment.
“Students who enjoy the flexibility of learning in a virtual setting but need more hands-on assistance with certain subjects now have a solution that will help them succeed academically,” said Interim Executive Director of Provost Academy South Carolina Stephanie Cagle. “Students get the personal attention that you would find in a brick and mortar setting but they also retain the flexibility of a virtual school program. It’s truly the best of both worlds.”
The Learning Center will host a media preview day on Monday, November 18, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. During that time, local news outlets will have an exclusive look at Columbia’s “click & brick” school model. Interview opportunities will be available onsite with various students and administrators.
“Not everyone flourishes in a completely virtual environment or in a traditional brick and mortar setting. This blends the two together in a unique and innovative way,” added Cagle. “We want to invite interested students and families to join us during our open house event to get a first-hand account of The Learning Center and meet our incredible staff.”
