Now single Muslims can find a partner online with peace of mind at helahel.com

Do a quick google for "muslim dating sites" and you will find over 3 million results. But how safe are these sites, and are they recommended for use by single Muslims looking for a husband or wife?

This was a question on the mind of Helahel founder Zahid Ali when deciding to launch a new online matrimonial service aimed at the Muslim community.

"One of my main concerns when browsing through some of the existing sites aimed at single Muslims was an emphasis on dating," explains Zahid. "In keeping with traditional Islamic values, we have made sure that Helahel is a site for people who are seriously looking for marriage and discourages general chat and dating."

So what makes helahel.com different from other Muslim dating sites?

"Firstly, Helahel is only aimed at Muslims," explains Zahid. "Some sites such as eharmony advertise as being aimed at Muslims but are in fact general audience sites; we feel as a site run by Muslims, we can better understand the needs of our users."

Privacy is a big concern for web users these days especially with so many horror stories of fake profiles and "catfish" in the press. Helahel aims to reduce these worries by only allowing logged-in members to view other members images and promise to never pass on users details to any other sites or companies. Members can only view profiles of the opposite sex, and users sending inappropriate messages can be reported and are reviewed by a team of moderators.

Unlike the majority of dating and matrimonial sites, it is completely free to communicate with members on Helahel. Zahid says this was an important factor for him when creating the site.

"Finding a husband or wife is an important part of the Islamic religion, and we felt that this service should be free to use for everyone to give the most benefit. As an added bonus this means that unlike other paid sites that have an incentive to create fake profiles to entice users in to signing up, we can focus on making sure all of our members are seriously seeking marriage and act in an appropriate way."
