Manufacturing Software Now Tracks Respirator Usage – Mar-Kov Computer Systems

Tracking and enforcement of respirator use increases operator safety at manufacturing facilities.

Mar-Kov Computer Systems has added the capability to track respirator usage to its software suite.

During the manufacturing process, use of a respirator can be enforced by requiring that the operator scan the barcode on the respirator before proceeding. Respirators where the cartridge is beyond the maximum usage allowed are not accepted.

This functionality is fully integrated with Mar-Kov’s larger software package for process manufacturers including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, flavor and fragrance, and chemicals industries. Full integration of respirator functionality allows the software to go beyond tracking of respirator usage to enforcement.

For example, if an operator is midway through a batch and the respirator exceeds its allowable usage hours, the display will flash a warning message indicating that the operator needs to change the respirator or replace the cartridge before proceeding.

In addition to enforcement described, the system raises warning flags and sends emails to managers responsible when respirator cartridge nears the end of its life.

Mar-Kov Computer Systems provides chemical management solutions specifically designed for the Pharmaceuticals, Cosmetics, Flavor and Fragrance, Paints and Coatings, and Chemicals industries.
