Living Heart Foundation's Dr. Archie Roberts Names Pro Player Health Alliance Screening Team Associate at HOPE Super Bowl Symposium December 5th In Long Island, New York
Long Island, New York (PRWEB) November 19, 2013 -- The Living Heart Foundation (LHF) partners with hospitals across the country to hold free health screenings for former players who are more likely to have cardiovascular health problems and other health issues associated with being overweight than smaller men in the general population. The HOPE (Heart Obesity Prevention and Education) Program extends the screening programs for former NFL players to obesity education and research. The HOPE Super Bowl Symposium Program is set to launch December 5, 2013 in Long Island, New York coinciding with Pro Player Health Alliance's sleep apnea awareness event.
Due to the overwhelming amount of health complications untreated sleep apnea can cause, Dr. Roberts has named Pro Player Health Alliance (PPHA) as a screening team associate to oversee the sleep screenings at the event. PPHA is a medically directed program headed by Dr. Rudi Ferrate, MD, of the American Sleep and Breathing Academy.
Dr. Roberts has confirmed the event will include dental exams by Dr. Neal Seltzer and Dr. Jeffrey Rein, blood pressure, lung age, body composition, ECG, cardiovascular risk detecting blood tests and obstructive sleep apnea screenings. The Apnea Risk Evaluation System by Watermark (ARES home sleep test unit) will be the sleep apnea screening unit used when medically indicated. This screening will be the first of a series of planned LHF HOPE Super Bowl Symposium programs around the country over the next few months.
