Above the Rim Gym Ups Their Game With Omidi Sponsorship
(PRWEB) November 20, 2013 -- The Above the Rim Gym gives a “high five” to their new sponsors at the Children’s Obesity Fund and cofounders Julian Omidi and Dr. Michael Omidi. Above the Rim Gym is a children’s basketball academy, serving middle Tennessee and teaching children ages 7 to 17 skills for both basketball and life.
“Our mission is to utilize sports as the platform to communicate skills to student athletes -- these skills transcend the world of sports to better prepare each child to deal with the world outside of the gym,” says George Gibson, Founder of the Above the Rim Gym. “Our coaching programs teach the fundamental and advanced skills of basketball and also introduce life disciplines. We partner with organizations that have a vested interest in the development of children, and the Children’s Obesity Fund is just such an organization. We are grateful to Dr. Michael Omidi, Julian Omidi and Children’s Obesity fund for their sponsorship, and hope their support will help us continue to mentor kids for many years to come.”
Above the Rim Gym (http://www.abovetherimgym.com) is a basketball academy for kids between the ages of 7 and 17. With childhood obesity reaching near epidemic proportions, it is important to have programs like this which help encourage physical fitness and promote valuable life skills, including team work, leadership, organization, respect and self discipline.
The work of Above the Rim Gym has merited recognition by the local NBC television affiliate. The NBA Memphis Grizzlies are also sponsors of Above the Rim Gym with team members promoting the organization by hosting basketball shooting clinics at local high schools.
Cofounded by Julian Omidi and Dr. Michael Omidi, the Children’s Obesity Fund (http://www.childrensobesityfund.org) hopes to help reverse the trend of rising obesity rates in America. The goal of the non-profit charity is to help people fully understand the obesity issue and its dire impacts on individuals and society as a whole -- and to use that knowledge to encourage children to grow up strong and healthy. Children’s Obesity Fund partners with other organizations to educate and support parents, educators and others so that we can all work together to raise healthy, active, social, and happy children. While the organization does not accept donations, it does encourage direct contributions of money and talents to the associations featured on our website. Children’s Obesity Fund is on Facebook as well as Google+, Twitter, and Pinterest.
