Grace And Lace is shaking up the women’s fashion world. A new episode of Shark Tank airs on ABC this week featuring the fast rising company for women, Grace and Lace. The hit TV show gives Melissa, the entrepreneur behind the business, an opportunity to make her business pitch to the Sharks or panel of investors in the reality series. If any panel member likes the idea behind the business and the company, she can win big investments, which have the power to take the company to a new level.
Grace and Lace was founded in 2011, in what the owner calls, “an accident”. Coming from a heartbreaking loss of a child, Melissa turned to her hobby, knitting, to release some of the stress, tension, and grief that were overwhelming her. It all began when a routine visit to the doctor during her pregnancy that turned into an emergency situation.
She was going into emergency labor and had to be put on bed-rest for two weeks. Around this time, she thought knitting a little baby blanket for her coming little girl would be a great idea. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be for she delivered preterm despite the best efforts of the doctors to stop her from going into active labor. Born with premature lungs, her little angel did not survive.
From here, the future company had knitted to her heart's content. She made her very first pair of women's boot socks in the late fall a year after her tragic loss and everyone who saw her asked where she purchased them because they looked like the cutest things on the planet.
Because of the very high interest, she decided to sell this pair online and not only did it sell very quickly, it was followed by an overwhelming amount of orders. In the beginning, Melissa tried to deliver these orders all on her own, knitting boot socks, scarves, leg warmers, arm warmers, hair accessories, and clothing both for women and girls. Soon enough, the amount of orders coming in were so much there was no way she can handle them all. She finally decided to take on a staff of family and friends to help run the new business, Grace And Lace.
To answer the growing demand for the products from Grace and Lace, the company launched a new website to make it easier for customers to reach them and view their products. On the website, visitors can see the catalog of the products, what products are in stock and place the quickly fulfilled orders.
The story of Grace and Lace is also there, as well as their mission, which is not only to provide the best quality of products but to also make a positive impact in the world. As of now, the company is helping build an orphanage in India for 500 boys and girls. Learn more about Grace and Lace and be sure to catch them on Shark Tank in an episode that airs on November 22.
