ella health, a 3-D mammography and women’s health services provider has appointed Melissa Dyrdahl as chief executive officer to guide its expansion into new locations and services.
Dyrdahl has extensive experience building and advising innovative, growing companies. She is also a breast cancer survivor with a keen understanding of the barriers and challenges facing women when it comes to health care. She brings to ella health a commitment to transforming the way health care is delivered to women.
“Women should have access to health care designed specifically for their needs, and it should be both high quality and convenient,” Dyrdahl said. “Women are busy and they spend a lot of time caring for others. What we offer at ella health is a new perspective on how to help them take charge of their own health.”
Dyrdahl fills a new role created to manage the growth of the two-year-old company, which provides an innovative model of women’s health care delivery, starting with breast cancer screening services.
ella health is one of the few centers in the country to offer 3D mammography, an advanced technology that is more effective in detecting cancers and reducing false positives than conventional 2D imaging. ella health centers are designed to be more like a spa than a clinic with private dressing rooms, cloth robes and heated exam rooms.
“ella health is not a typical health care provider,” Dyrdahl said. “Our centers are built around what women have told us they want, and we look for ways to exceed their expectations.”
Dyrdahl was most recently Vice President of Pivotal Labs, a company at the forefront of building scalable software. As Adobe Systems, Inc., Senior Vice President of Corporate Marketing, she helped transform the company into a globally recognized consumer brand. Melissa also co-founded and was CEO of Bring Light, Inc., a pioneer in leveraging the internet for effective online fundraising.
Dyrdahl has received numerous honors, including being named as a Distinguished Alumna of San Jose State University, and one of the 100 Most Influential Women in Silicon Valley.
ella health is headquartered in San Francisco with plans to open centers across the US.
