HNTB Expands Aviation Expertise With Hiring of Two New Regional Leaders
Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) November 19, 2013 -- HNTB Corporation has expanded its national aviation leadership team by naming aviation leaders in the Southeast and Central divisions, both to meet the expanding design, traffic, technology and security needs of the country’s airports.
“HNTB is growing and changing with our clients in the aviation sector,” said Laddie Irion, HNTB national aviation market sector leader. “HNTB’s addition of Bill Brooks and Scott Slaughter will further solidify our combined portfolio of aviation expertise and better align our services with what’s needed to exceed consumers’ expectations.”
With the additions of Brooks and Slaughter, HNTB currently has more than 150 professionals serving aviation clients. The past year has seen several staffing developments that organized the practice for future success and expanded its leadership ranks.
Bill Brooks, PE, has joined HNTB as Southeast Division aviation leader and associate vice president. In this new role, he will focus on strategic planning and implementation, industry representation, business development and service delivery. Although concentrating on the Southeast, Brooks also will provide counsel and services to HNTB projects nationwide, including landside and airside. He will work from HNTB’s Lake Mary, Fla., office.
Brooks has more than two decades of diverse industry experience leading cross-functional units in all aspects of aviation consulting. Most recently, he served as national aviation engineering leader for another consulting firm. His many achievements include providing planning, engineering, construction and program management for a portfolio valued at more than $500 million and impacting airports in Florida, Georgia and throughout the Southeast as well as in India, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas and the Philippines.
In addition to his aviation experience, Brooks also has served as the mayor of Belle Isle, Fla., since 2001, as well as previous positions including U.S. Secretary of Transportation Mary Peters’ National Transportation Policy and Revenue Study Commission’s Blue Ribbon Panel of Transportation Experts; Florida Gov. Jeb Bush’s 2025 Florida Transportation Plan Steering Committee and Strategic Intermodal System Steering Committee; and the National League of Cities board of directors.
Scott Slaughter, AIA, NCARB, has joined HNTB as Central Division aviation leader and associate vice president. Based in HNTB’s Dallas office, Slaughter will continue to lead large-scale, multi-phased architecture, planning and program management aviation projects in Texas.
Slaughter has devoted the past 30 years of his career to serving the aviation industry. He has developed a national reputation for quality design, attention to detail and a customized client experience. Although he is licensed to practice architecture in 36 states, many of Slaughter’s recent projects are in Texas, including work done on behalf of the City of Dallas, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
Slaughter is a mentor in the American Institute of Architects’ Dallas Chapter, a team leader and on-call architect for Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster recovery and on the aviation task force for the North Texas Council. Slaughter also is a licensed emergency flood inspector. In addition he is a member of the Texas Society of Architects, Project Management Institute, Aviation Consultants Council and Construction Management Association of America.
HNTB currently is working on multi-million-dollar projects at many of the country’s top airports, including Los Angeles International Airport, LaGuardia Airport, O’Hare International Airport, Denver International Airport, Tampa International Airport and Philadelphia International Airport.
