WorldPride 2014 Toronto Launches Website, Streetfair, Affiliate Events and International Artists Applications
Toronto, Ontario (PRWEB) November 25, 2013 -- As the movement for LGBTTIQQ2SA* equal rights continues to grow, so do Pride events around the world and the need for a global event connected to a much larger global movement. Presented by Pride Toronto, WorldPride 2014 Toronto will be the world’s largest international LGBT festival to date, and the first WorldPride in North America. It is a ten-day international celebration, taking place from June 20 – 29, 2014, incorporating activism, education, and the history and culture of global LGBTTIQQ2SA* communities.
Whether you’re a DJ, band, drag queen/king, dancer, comedian, performance artist, community group or theatrical troupe, we want to hear from you! (Stay tuned for major arts announcements in early December and the opening of visual artists applications before the end of the year.)
“We’re looking forward to presenting the most diverse festival yet,” says TK, Arts & Culture Manager for WorldPride 2014 Toronto. “Our aim is to present the best LGBTTIQQ2SA* artists that Canada and the world have to offer alongside international celebrity artists, as well as share the stories of international artists with our communities.
WorldPride 2014 Toronto Affiliate Events Program comprises events organized and produced by community groups and external organizations and support the diversity initiatives of our community and we encourage groups to hold events with an international focus.
“WorldPride is an international LGBT event; bigger than Canada has seen before,” says Chrystal Dean, WorldPride 2014 Toronto Manager. “We want to make sure the LGBTTIQQ2SA communities and artists from around the world have every chance to take part and benefit from this unique opportunity.”
