Interdean Congratulate UK Expat Efforts in Wake of Typhoon Haiyan
(PRWEB UK) 2 December 2013 -- It has been reported in The Telegraph that a medical team from the UK are also being flown out to treat victims in the worst hit areas of Leyte, Samar and Northern Cebu, where approximately 4million residents have been affected. The involvement of British expats is part of a British response being co-ordinated by aid agencies which were already on the ground. The Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC), a unification of leading UK charities, including the British Red Cross and Oxfam, has already raised an impressive £35 million, alongside the government’s pledge of £6 million in immediate help. Filipino expats living in the UK are also said to be working together to provide help amidst fears for family and friends involved in the devastation back home.
Providing a comprehensive international removals service for expats around the world, Interdean were naturally concerned about the welfare of those affected by the recent storm. A representative from the firm explains how British expats and tourists in the Philippines are helping to provide support.
“The generosity that the British public have shown so far, as well as medical supplies, water tanks, medicine and sanitation equipment all being flown over will all play a part in helping those in such desperate need. It seems as though much of the focus of those currently in the Philippines such as locals and expats, has been to try and clear the main transport routes so that this aid can reach those who need it most. We’ll be closely watching the progress of the recovery.”
