Waterloo, ON (PRWEB) November 22, 2013
Athena Software is happy to announce the appointment of Dana Fox as the Waterloo, Ont. company's new director of business development.
This marks a return to Athena for Dana, who was a director with the firm from 2005 to 2010 and helped build the company from tech start-up to its current status as a global leader in case management software, with the company's Penelope application now used by tens of thousands of users at hundreds of organizations around the world.
As Athena's returning director of business development, Dana brings over 30 years of experience as a leader in sales and marketing at start-ups and large multinational organizations alike. He is also the founder and vice-chair of ClevrU Corporation, a Waterloo-based company that delivers educational content to universities around the world and which has found particular success in China, where the system now boasts over 70,000 users.
Dana recently accompanied Canada's Governor General David Johnston on an official state visit to China and Mongolia to improve bilateral relations through education, innovation and cultural exchange.
"I am excited to return to Athena Software in a business development role. The company has made tremendous progress developing the best-in-class case management technology and growing their base of clients worldwide," said Dana. "Waterloo Region has produced many world-class organizations and Athena Software is another great example of how Canada continues to create business opportunities around the world."
In the past year, Athena has seen tremendous growth, doubling its workforce as it expands into new markets at a rapid pace. This year, Athena announced a far-reaching partnership with New Zealand's National Hauora Coalition that saw the creation of a re-branded version of Penelope called Whanau (pronounced 'Far-now') Solutions for social service organizations that serve the country's Maori population. Athena also moved into a new continent by securing their first client in Africa, joining existing Athena clients across North America, Australia, New Zealand, the U.K., Ireland, Greece, the Caribbean and Japan.
"We are all delighted that Dana has rejoined our team," said Athena partner Diane Stanley-Horn. "During his first time with us, Dana was instrumental in helping us grow the company into new markets and reach new levels of professionalism and client service. After successfully launching ClevrU, he rejoins us with a whole new dimension of global experience in rapid and sustainable business development, and we couldn't be happier. Dana is the perfect person to build and manage our business development in this exciting new phase of Athena's success story."
