Edgenuity Applauds New “Keeping Pace” Report for First-Time Inclusion of Blended Learning Category
Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) November 21, 2013 -- Edgenuity, a leading provider of online and blended learning solutions, today hailed the first-time inclusion of the blended learning category in Evergreen Education’s new “Keeping Pace” report.
The report, released on October 28, 2013 at the iNACOL Blended and Online Learning Symposium in Orlando, Florida, looks at the changing landscape of online learning and finds that more than 75% of districts now offer some blended learning options as an alternative to fully virtual or traditional brick and mortar schools.
“The blended learning model is clearly gaining traction in schools and districts across the country. Our school partners are experimenting with a variety of blended learning models at the building, classroom, and even individual student level,” said Sari Factor, CEO of Edgenuity. “Over time, it’s likely that the vast majority of grade 6-12 students will learn at least in part through online delivery of content and instruction mixed with direct teacher interaction, which can drive deeper student engagement and create a more empowering and effective learning experience.”
Edgenuity’s 14,000 school partners have implemented a range of blended learning models. Among them, Hays Consolidated Independent School District in Kyle, Texas is finding that its program is driving increased student success.
“Online and blended learning has given us the opportunity to customize learning to meet the preferences and needs of our students,” said Christie Rickert, Director of Instructional Technology at Hays Consolidated Independent School District in Kyle, Texas. “Working with Edgenuity, we have implemented a variety of blended learning models, encouraging student engagement and helping to improve student graduation rates. These alternatives have transformed the school setting, allowing students to work at their own pace and collaborate one-on-one with teachers or within small groups to fully master specific concepts in the classroom.”
In addition to discussing the rising popularity of blended learning, the Keeping Pace report offers a new definition, the “blended school” – a stand-alone school with its own curriculum model, in which a majority of teaching is delivered online and attendance is required at a physical site during the school year for both instruction and assessment. Edgenuity, a sponsor of the report along with other educational organizations, is helping to facilitate the transition to blended learning as schools recognize the benefits of customized instruction and work to implement blended learning models.
