Mercedes Concept GLA45 AMG Announced at L.A. International Auto Show, Reports L&L Automotive
London, UK (PRWEB UK) 21 November 2013 -- The Concept GLA 45 AMG is Mercedes’ vision of the future of smaller sized SUVs, and it is a vision that many are embracing.
Tobias Moers, who is Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG makes no mistake about who the brand is targeting the vehicle to. Moers states the GLA 45 AMG is targeted to “…a young target group who set great store by styling, dynamism and independence – can now start looking forward to a dynamic high-performance car.” The Concept Mercedes GLA 45 AMG is powered by the strongest four-cylinder engine in series production on the planet, an AMG 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that has an output of 265 kW (360 hp) and maximum torque of 450 newton metres. It is an engine powerful enough to propel the vehicle from a standstill to 100 km/h in less than five seconds. This power is offered with minimal fuel consumption, while also being environmentally friendly. It is a combination likely to appeal to that “young target group.”
While a powerful engine with miserly fuel consumption will certainly gain attention, what really grabs the crowds at these international shows is dramatic good looks. The Concept Mercedes GLA 45 AMG has it all. It starts upfront with large cooling air intakes and a large front splitter designed in an attractive high-gloss black on the AMG front apron. A twin-blade radiator grille in silver chrome and air deflectors add to the racing appearance of the front end of this concept car. The side sill panels include high-gloss black inserts, and high-gloss black roof rails and the large rear aerofoil with red accents contribute to the dynamic look.
Large 21” AMG forged wheels in a cross-spoke design amplify the muscular appearance of the Concept GLA 45 AMG. The aggressive design is dominated in the rear by a diffuser insert with a black trim element. Finally, the twin-rectangular tailpipe design has high-gloss black trims on its AMG sports exhaust system.
When you think “SUV” you may not necessarily think of a vehicle that is this size. This new compact SUV approach is a bold step for Mercedes that is gaining a lot of attention at the Los Angeles Motor Show 2013. It will make its appearance in showrooms in 2014.
