MOSI’s IMAX DOME Theatre Hosts Throwback Thursdays (#TBT) with IMAX classics
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) November 21, 2013 -- MOSI's IMAX DOME Theatre is celebrating Throwback Thursdays (#TBT) on the big screen. To celebrate this social media sensation and because of the huge demand received from guests, MOSI is bringing back classic IMAX audience favorites. A new throwback film will begin every Thursday this winter and play all week long. Don't miss the return of Everest, Top Speed, Journey Into Amazing Caves and Coral Reef Adventure.
Everest returns Nov. 21 – 27 and is the dramatic true story of a team of climbers who found hope, strength and triumph in the wake of tragedy. Their successful ascent of Mount Everest just days after fellow mountaineers and friends died there, is a compelling story about the human spirit and a mountain they love, respect and sometimes fear. Everest takes audiences across creaking icefalls and gaping chasms, up dangerous, towering cliffs, through a harrowing rescue, and into the danger zone of oxygen-thin altitude.
Discover what it takes to be the fastest in the world when Top Speed returns to MOSI, Nov. 28 – Dec. 4. The science of speed comes alive through awe-inspiring performances and personal stories of four individuals whose lives revolve around the never-ending pursuit of speed. From the cockpit of a GT racecar audiences will nearly careen through a death-defying turn at 200 mph. On a hushed track, audiences explode from the blocks in a sprint that launches them into human-powered propulsion. Balanced on a mountain bike atop a plunging cliff, audiences hang on for the ultimate downhill descent of their life. Focus, power, and acceleration – it’s all done in the name of chasing the absolute limits of human speed.
Meet Dr. Hazel Barton and Nancy Aulenbach when Journey Into Amazing Caves returns, Dec. 5 – 11. These women are compelled to push their limits in hostile environments. They are cavers who risk fatal danger for the thrill of discovery. Barton and Aulenbach are extreme athletes and extreme scientists – scientists who gather their data in treacherous places where few dare to follow. In Journey Into Amazing Caves they travel to caves in Arizona, Greenland and Mexico searching for discoveries that may lead to cures for human disease. The film is narrated by Liam Neeson and featuring a soundtrack with songs and music from The Moody Blues.
Coral Reef Adventure returns to MOSI Dec. 12 – 18 and follows the real-life expedition of ocean explorers and underwater filmmakers Howard and Michele Hall. The Halls guide us to the islands and sun-drenched waters of the South Pacific to document, in the biggest and best film format that exists, the health and beauty of coral reefs. On the giant screen, audiences will feel like they diving and exploring right alongside them. The film features songs written and recorded by Crosby, Stills, and Nash. Narrated by Liam Neeson.
