California Southern University Awarded Designation of Military-Friendly School for 2014
Irvine, CA (PRWEB) November 21, 2013 -- California Southern University has been awarded the designation of “Military-Friendly School” for 2014. The award honors the top 20 percent of U.S. colleges and universities—those that are most committed to helping America’s military service members, veterans and spouses better their lives through higher education.
This marks the third consecutive year that CalSouthern has received the honor, which is bestowed annually by G.I. Jobs magazine, the leading publication for military personnel transitioning back into civilian life. The 2014 list of Military-Friendly Schools was compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 10,000 institutions that are approved by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to provide tuition funding. The survey results that comprise the 2014 list were independently tested by Ernst & Young LLP. According to G.I Jobs, each year the colleges and universities surveyed are held to a higher standard via improved methodology, criteria and weightings developed with the assistance of an academic advisory board consisting of educators from schools across the country.
“CalSouthern is again honored and humbled to receive the Military-Friendly School designation,” says University President Dr. Caroll Ryan. “Receiving this award for the third consecutive year is an indicator that the university has been consistent and unwavering in its commitment to active-duty service members, as well as veterans. It’s truly a privilege to give back in whatever way we can to those who’ve served us so honorably, and we will remain steadfast in our commitment to help our military service members and veterans achieve their educational and career goals.” To learn more about this CalSouthern program, visit http://www.calsouthern.edu/military/.
