OW2, the global community for open source infrastructure software, announces the winners of OW2con'13 Best Project Awards. Organized for the second time this year, the OW2con Best Project Awards recognize OW2 projects for their outstanding contribution in four categories: innovation, community development, market performance and the Technology Council Special Prize.

The winners of the first ever OW2con'13 Best Project Awards are:

Innovation Award: Nanoko (award presented to Nanoko's contributor and Research Engineer at Grenoble University Clément Escoffier). OW2 NaNoKo provides a complete Javascript SOA and web application development framework from development model to packaging through runtime, dependency management and quality for the mobile applications market..

Community Award: Emerginov (award presented to Morgan Richomme Emerginov project leader at Orange). An open PHP PaaS Solution for emerging countries and new market focused on Telco web project and more precisely on vocal and SMS based services, Emerginov has developed a remarkably active community throughout Africa.

Market Award: Talend Open Studio (award presented to Talend CTO Cedric Carbone). Providing advanced capabilities to improve the productivity of data integration job design and the broadest connectivity to all source and target systems to support all types of data integration, data migration and data synchronization operations, Talend Open Studio has established itself as an indisputable leader on the market.

Technology Council Special Prize: XWiki (award presented to Fabio Mancinelli, XWiki Research Project Manager). The Technology Council wanted to recognize the long-term contribution of the project to the OW2 community and the high ethics of the XWiki's company in running a profitable business while enforcing clear open source best practices.

“We are extremely proud of our OW2con'13 Best Project Awards winners,” says OW2 CEO Cedric Thomas. “The awarded projects reflect the tremendous progress achieved by the OW2 code base this year,” he adds.

All projects were invited to compete for one of the four awards: Innovation Award, Community Award, Market Award and Technology Council Special Prize. The winners were selected by a jury of project leaders from the technology Council and members of the OW2 Management Office.

The OW2con Best Project Awards afford OW2 members, project leaders and their teams great recognition within the community as well as many opportunities in terms of visibility. The award ceremony took place at OW2con'13, the annual conference of the OW2 community, on 13 November, at Orange Labs' Innovation Garden, in Paris Issy-les-Moulineaux.
