Skyline Whitespace Provide Pop Up Store for Game at Huge Xbox One Launch
(PRWEB UK) 25 November 2013 -- From Midday on the 21st November, the process began to transform Leicester Square into Xbox One Square, in the lead up to the brand new Xbox One being released at Midnight last night. Microsoft arranged huge interactive launch events in New York, Los Angeles and London to promote their latest console. The event in Leicester Square consisted of performances on the giant Xbox logo-shaped stage, many celebrity appearances including Plan B, Jonathan Ross and Top Gear’s The Stig and actors dressed as game characters.
The launch event was the biggest the UK has ever seen for a games console; Microsoft haven’t released an Xbox in eight years so the release of Xbox One was very hotly anticipated. A two-hour concert took place on the illuminated stage that took the form of a giant “X.” Acts included Plan B, Sway and Katy B. There was also a live gaming tournament on the Xbox One between premiership footballers and FIFA champions. The FIFA 14 competition winner played against England player Andros Townsend.
As well as releasing the New Xbox One, the Xbox One Square was promoting the latest game releases. Alongside the One, Microsoft is releasing several new games that you can buy to play on the new Xbox. Many of the new games were represented at the event: actors dressed as zombies from Dead Rising 3; there were Roman soldiers from Ryse: Son of Rome and The Stig made an entrance into the Square driving a McLaren supercar from Forza Motorsport 5.
Just before the Xbox One was due to begin selling at midnight, gaming fans were taken to a “secret location” just off Leicester Square. Microsoft and hired out a floor of the Trocadero and with the help of Skyline Whitespace they created a pop-up GAME store for lucky fans to purchase the first Xboxes. The “secret store” included a GAME shop, gaming area for testing out the console and a dance floor. Skyline Whitespace designed and constructed the pop-up GAME store including the banners, graphics, wall painting and temporary tills.
Adam King, Design and Marketing Director of Skyline Whitespace said, "The London launch night was an enormous success and with so much anticipation surrounding the new Microsoft XBOX ONE, we were proud to produce an event that was a real high point for our long term client GAME and new relationship with Microsoft. Everything went according to plan and we kept all information around the launch secret until launch time!"
