(PRWEB) November 26, 2013 -- Three teenagers heading to school when their car crashed last week, sending all three to the hospital. Michael Steinger, a car accident lawyer in West Palm Beach, says the accident is part of a trend of teenage car crashes.
The car was driven by a 16-year-old according to WFLX News (10.23.2013). The driver lost control of the car and crashed into a tree, a fence and a light pole before coming to a stop. He had to be cut out of the vehicle by rescue workers.
Steinger commented that the two passengers, both 15-year-olds, were also seriously hurt. One was thrown from the vehicle.
Steinger, the founder of Steinger, Iscoe & Greene law firm, said that teenagers face one of the highest accident risk rates of any age group—and that these crash scenes are far too common.
“Teenagers are new drivers, and they have less experience behind the wheel,” Steinger said. “That inexperience means that every year there's a wave of teen accidents as they get their licenses for the first time.”
Authorities have not stated the cause of the accident, and Steinger was quick to point out that the driver may not have been at fault.
“We know that no alcohol was involved,” Steinger said. “There are rumors that they were racing another car, but police haven't been able to confirm them.”
Steinger said that even a safe driver can face a serious accident if they don't know how to handle unexpected conditions on the road.
“If an animal runs into the road, a teen driver may over-turn and lose control of the vehicle,” Steinger said. “Inexperience is not the same thing as carelessness.”
Steinger said that parents of any teen injured in an accident should seek legal help.
“We see so many parents who get angry at their kids and blame them for the accident,” he said. “But they aren't always at fault, and your family can receive compensation.”
