Renewable Choice Energy Recognizes Leading Green Power Companies
Boulder, CO (PRWEB) December 03, 2013 -- Renewable Choice Energy (http://www.renewablechoice.com) today announced that it provides green power to some of the top U.S. purchasers, per the recent Top 50 Green Power Partnership (GPP) listing released by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The voluntary program recognizes organizations that invest in green power in order to reduce environmental impact.
The recent Top 50 list included nine of Renewable Choice’s clients, each of whom have purchased over 50 million kilowatt hours of green power in 2013. These clients include Kohl’s, Staples, Unilever, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, BD, TD Bank N.A., EMC Corporation, Montgomery County Clean Energy Buyers Group, and Carnegie Mellon University.
Participants in the GPP program obtain clean energy from a variety of sources, including onsite generation and renewable energy credits (RECs). RECs are the way green power is tracked and traded in North America, and can be obtained from a broad mix of renewables, including wind, solar, and biomass. In many cases, the commitment to green power is one among several environmental performance targets for GPP participants.
“We’re proud to be a part of the GPP program, and to be affiliated with so many great organizations that are taking their commitment to reduce carbon emissions seriously,” said Aran Rice, Vice President of Sales for Renewable Choice. “By purchasing RECs, these organizations are supporting clean energy growth and development while simultaneously reducing their own carbon footprint.”
The EPA recently expanded the GPP program to allow even more organizations the opportunity to participate and be recognized for their green power commitments. Currently, more than 1,400 organizations have joined the program, a free and voluntary service of the EPA. Collectively, these industry leaders use billions of kilowatt hours of green power every year.
In 2012, the EPA recognized Renewable Choice as a Green Power Supplier of the Year. The firm has been selling RECs and carbon offsets since 2001 and is the recipient of numerous awards for its leadership in the green power industry. The company recently announced the launch of its subsidiary, Mosaic Labs, a full service sustainability consulting firm.
“The need for organizations to improve their environmental performance has grown increasingly urgent,” said Kris Lotlikar, President of Renewable Choice. “We’re pleased to be able to support so many leading companies in strategically addressing environmental impact.”
