Larry O’Nan, the original creator of The Adventures of Andy Ant book series and the world of Joey and Andy Ant, is excited to announce the launch of the newly revised Andy Ant books, published by Morgan James Publishing. After 25 years of being out of print in English, The Adventures of Andy Ant children’s books, created by Highland resident Larry O’Nan, is being re-released, beginning with the first two books of the series. Both books are now available in print and in digital format. Books can now be purchased at local bookstores, from online retailers, or through http://www.AndyAnt.com.
The book series depicts the everyday adventures of a boy named Joey and his best friend Andy, a little ant who lives with his family under the front steps of Joey’s house. Each book is framed as an adventure that happens in a day involving Andy Ant and Joey. Each adventure ends with Joey preparing for bed and reflecting on the events of his day and the lessons learned with Andy Ant. Larry O’Nan, series creator said the series originated from bedtime stories he used to tell his daughters Cari and Jessica when they were children.
“One of the purposes for the book series is to help and encourage parents to be creative and interactive in their storytelling to their children,” states Larry. The classic artwork and illustrations were created by retired Disney illustrator, Norman McGary. The illustrations on each page help bring the stories to life. “I tell everybody it’s not the stories that first attract attention, it’s the quality of the art, but soon the kids and parents get caught up with the adventures of Joey and Andy Ant,” Larry said praising McGary’s classically full-color illustrations.
