Bielat Santore & Company’s “Who’s Who in the Restaurant Industry”
Fair Haven, NJ (PRWEB) November 25, 2013 -- It may be difficult to find a kid-friendly restaurant anymore that does not involve happy meals and jungle gyms. At Tavolo Pronto in Fair Haven, New Jersey, owners Arturo and Patti Balderas, make children a priority by having balanced meals prepared and ready to go. The casual-themed eatery offers “grab and go” service as well as in-house dining, making a busy work or school day easier to cope with.
The original chef at the former Tavolo Restaurant in Long Branch, New Jersey, Arturo Balderas and his wife Patti grew to love the restaurant business so much that when Tavolo closed its doors, they purchased its sister café, Tavolo Pronto (meaning “Table Ready” in Italian) . Patti, an experienced pastry chef for twenty years who worked in various hotels and restaurants and Arturo a dishwasher before working his way up to becoming a head chef, created a place where families and kids visit regularly.
“Whatever it was intended to be, it morphed into what it is now,” said Patti. Before taking over, Tavolo was known as an eat-in café, so the addition of take-out and the snack bar at Tavolo Pronto became a big hit. “Lunch is our big thing,” continues Patti. “People come in a lot for take-out dinners too.” The menu includes a long list of omelets, panini’s, breakfast sandwiches, and pastries for early risers. When school lets out for lunch, the place crowds with orders of homemade pizza, salads and soups. Assorted pastas and meats are served during the dinner rush.
“It’s a tight community and this is a local business,” said Patti. We know most of our customers by first name and what they like.” The neighborhood eatery also sponsors softball and baseball teams and has creative writing pieces by local students displayed in the store. Their close relationship with the schools has encouraged parents to order their kids lunches and the staff packs and delivers them to the school during lunch hour. “Moms responsibility is to make sure their kids have a good lunch; instead of them packing it, we do,” states Patti. “We pack each individually in bags and write everyone’s name on each bag. We’ve had parents stick notes in their kid’s bags when they come in for their morning coffee.”
This time of year is most popular as many college students flood back to town for the holiday break. “It’s really nice this time of year when the college kids come back in town,” said Patti. “They come here and exchange gifts and catch up with each other. Everyone is very friendly and I like seeing a lot of friendly faces.”
The weekend dinner menu varies each week. The café also caters private parties including delivery and set up. For Thanksgiving there is a full menu featuring a 10-14 lb. roast turkey, with bread stuffing and the customer’s choice of vegetables, salad, potatoes and desserts. The meal feeds 8-10 people at a price of $195.00. Guests must pre-order no later than November 25th.
Tavolo Pronto is located at 610 River Road, Fair Haven, New Jersey. The café is open Monday through Wednesday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm; Thursday through Saturday until 10 pm. On Sundays, the hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. To place an order, call 732.741.6009. Daily menu and specials can be viewed online at http://tavolopronto.com/.
