Denver, CO (PRWEB) November 26, 2013 -- For public defenders, understanding the Department of Motor Vehicles’ consequences for certain charges against their clients can be extremely difficult. Depending on what their client is charged with, the DMV may automatically suspend or revoke their license.
Since DMV law is outside of a Colorado public defenders' normal practice area, deciphering the nuanced law can be a challenge. One attorney, Jeffery A. Wolf, owner and sole criminal defense attorney at Wolf Law, LLC., was invited to lead a training class for some of Douglas and Arapahoe County’s public defenders.
The class was held at the Douglas County Public Defender’s office in Castle Rock, CO and was designed to inform those in attendance of what they need to do in order to better serve their clients.
“I was happy to be asked to come teach deputy state public defenders of the DMV consequences that can be associated with their cases,” said Wolf. “I believe that teaching a class like this is about making some of Colorado's most dedicated and skilled defenders even better at their job.”
Wolf went on to say that not only is it an honor for him to participate in legal training like this, but it should be something other attorneys should do as well.
“Helping them understand the consequences their clients face outside of the courthouse is not only fulfilling for me to do,” Wolf said. “It’s also something I view as an obligation we in the defense bar have when presented with the opportunity to do so.”
While the class was primarily designed to help public defenders with specific case types, the ultimate benefit will be to those who need the public defenders’ help.
“I have always had deep respect for the work public defenders do on behalf of those without the means to hire an attorney on their own,” Wolf said. “Public defenders work incredibly hard, with incredibly large caseloads and do excellent work every day through the State of Colorado. Anything that I can do to help them do it even better, I will do."
Attorney Jeffrey Wolf is a member of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, Colorado Bar, Denver Bar, and the Arapahoe County Bar Associations. Wolf is the sole attorney at Wolf Law, and provides criminal defense services throughout the state.
