Pharmacy Advantage: Clinical Team Members Leading the Specialty Pharmacy Pack
Troy, MI (PRWEB) November 26, 2013 -- Pharmacy Advantage is pleased to announce their support of the Specialty Pharmacy Certification Board (SPCB). Licensed professionals who meet the eligibility guidelines and pass the necessary certification exam will be authorized to use the Certified Specialty Pharmacist ™ (CSP™) designation. This esteemed honor is intended to advance proficiency benchmarks, advocate educational development, and establish clear, consistent standards in the administration of specialty drugs.
In order to generate a content appropriate exam format, SPCB enlisted a distinguished panel of top performing clinical pharmacists representing specialty thought leaders across the United States. Two members of this elite expert consortium included Dr. Jonathan Van Lare, PharmD and Dr. John-Paul Lopez, PharmD from Pharmacy Advantage. Through their collaborative efforts of writing, reviewing and reconfiguring submitted questions, the framework of SPCB’s assessment examination was completed. Dr. Van Lare and Dr. Lopez officially became two of the first pharmacists to yield the title of CSP™ nation-wide attributed to their exceptional performance on the committee.
“We are truly honored to have been chosen to become part of this initiative,” said Jonathan Van Lare, PharmD, Clinical Manager, Pharmacy Advantage. “Functionality expectations in the specialty pharmacy industry continuously evolve due to increased complexities with access, tolerance, and adherence to therapeutic regimens. As a result, defining parameters, implementing thorough protocols and ancillary certifications become essential to ensuring quality patient care.”
“At Pharmacy Advantage, my team realizes that beyond medication management programs, a pharmacist in this specialty environment must also have a detailed understanding of distribution models, handling procedures, reimbursement requirements, data reporting, financial assistance and other assorted services vital to proper dispensing,” stated Daniel Kus, B.S. Pharm, RPh., Vice President of Pharmacy Advantage. “Thanks to the hard work of Dr. Van Lare and Dr. Lopez, this certification platform will help streamline the highest possible ethical, quality and safety standards for our patients on a national level.
