It’s that time of year again. The Christmas lights go up, the decorations go out. Your home is filled with festive holiday reminders. Just remember that the less seen part of your home needs some holiday sprucing up as well. Aire Serv wants you to have a happy safe holiday and winter season. Aire Serv offers tips for preparing your house for the holiday and winter season.
Before you start to operate your heater make sure you replace its filter. Dirty filters can obstruct airflow and poor air quality can reduce your equipment’s life cycle.
Make sure that your furnace is not blocking the vents. Vents blocked by furniture will inadequately heat your home. The temperature in the home will not go up, but the vents will continue to run. This will cause you to have larger than normal heating bills. Vents should be kept open and unobstructed.
You want to reduce the amount of time that you use your exhaust fans. Using these systems can cause your system to work harder and may cause a shorter life cycle.
Ensure that you install a Carbon Monoxide detector in your home. Carbon Monoxide is very dangerous and its odorless properties can make it undetectable. You also want to check or replace the batteries in your smoke detectors.
By remembering to change your home filters, unblocking your vents and installing Carbon Monoxide detectors, your home will be ready to tackle the winter months.
