US Cargo Control Expands In-House Production of Tie Down Assemblies
Urbana, IA (PRWEB) November 26, 2013 -- US Cargo Control continues its on-site manufacturing initiatives, reporting an impressive increase in production of its tie down assemblies in its first year.
The Urbana, Iowa-based company launched a sewing and assembly team in January, and has recently added another 15 employees to join the growing department. Tie down components sewn and assembled on-site include ratchet straps, cam buckle straps, winch straps, and wheel nets, and are sold on the company’s website, USCargoControl.com. The company also employs a sales team that customers can contact by phone to place custom orders.
Business plans for the new venture were put into place in 2012, when founder and CEO Tim Guenther saw an opportunity to build assemblies at the company’s headquarters, rather than outsource all of the products from China. Senior VP of Operations, Tim Sanders, says producing the assemblies on-site offers several benefits.
“With the production process done in-house, we’re able to better control the quality of our products, offer a wider selection of custom options, and ship merchandise out faster to our customers,” said Sanders. “Contributing to the local economy by adding jobs has also been an extremely rewarding benefit.”
US Cargo Control currently employs 90 full- and part-time staff, managing everything from raw materials sourcing and marketing, to sales and shipping. Sanders anticipates the company will continue to add employees across all areas into 2014 as the production initiative grows.
“The demand for USCC tie down products continues to increase rapidly, and we have to stay ahead of that demand to take care of our customers and continue to produce items that we can be proud of,” said Sanders. “This growth also drives us to add new talent throughout the company as we prepare for an exciting future.”
