Today, in order to avoid astronomical fines for non-compliance, employers need to be much more vigilant and diligent in their process.
Columbus, OH (PRWEB) November 27, 2013
OPENonline, a leading provider of employment background screening services and investigative solutions, will host a complimentary, educational webinar regarding employer compliance and responsibilities with Form I-9 and E-Verify. The webinar, “I-9 & E-Verify Compliance,” is part of OPENonline’s Continued Compliance Education Series and will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. EST.
The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has cracked down on companies suspected of hiring illegal workers and greatly increased their number of annual audits. Most recently, the United States Department of Justice (USDOJ) announced that the Indian company Infosys was ordered to pay a record $34 million settlement due to allegations of systematic visa fraud and abuse of immigration processes.
The webinar discussion will include a review of the penalties ICE and Office of Special Counsel (OSC) can impose. Additionally, the webinar will review paper versus electronic I-9 forms and the common missteps employers make in the process.
“Implementing Form I-9 compliance and best practices while limiting your company’s liability is a challenge faced by many employers,” said Heather Browning, Executive Vice President at OPENonline. “Today, in order to avoid astronomical fines for non-compliance, employers need to be much more vigilant and diligent in their process.”
The webinar, “I-9 & E-Verify Compliance,” has been submitted to the HR Certification Institute for review. This will be the fourth webinar in OPENonline’s Continued Compliance Education series, following the success of previous webinars, including: “Same Story, Different Day: The Attorney’s Perspective on the EEOC and FCRA” on August 15, 2013; “Is Your Background Check Process Compliant?
