Scott Sheldon, LLC and long time customer, U.S. Multinational Pharmaceutical & Medical Device Manufacturer*, partner again to create a successful network optimization with one of their biggest distributors. The engagement removed eight days of transportation costs by streamlining movement between facilities and three quick-gain, high-ROI projects served as proof of concept for long term strategic improvements.
The project involved two clients – one is a US multinational firm* that manufactures medical devices and pharmaceutical and consumer packaged goods. Through a number of acquisitions, they found themselves in the distribution business, which was not their core expertise. They wanted to regain focus on manufacturing and rely on distributors to handle the transportation of product.
Their manufacturing client’s big distribution partner* is the nation’s leading distributor of medical and surgical supplies to the acute-care market. There would always be some amount of competition between the firms because the distributor also sells its own private label products but the manufacturer thought there might be ways for both companies to benefit by collaborating to improve their supply chain relationship.
Knowing that broad changes would take time to implement at companies of their size, the manufacturer partnered with Scott Sheldon to identify both long term strategic supply chain enhancements and quick-gain consolidation projects from which both companies could quickly benefit.
“We truly enjoyed working with these two Fortune 500 healthcare companies and look forward to future projects in our pipelines,” stated Scott Spyker, President and CEO of Scott Sheldon. Spyker spearheaded the project parameters, allowing Scott Sheldon’s consultants to get in, get out and significantly improve both customers’ bottom lines.
