WOR710's HealthNavigator Features Raritan Bay Medical Center's Clare Schuld, Dr. Nina Regevik and Dr. Salem Samra

Clare Schuld, RN, Nurse Navigator at the Human Motion Institute at Raritan Bay Medical Center will discuss concussions, their causes and the potential dangers they can afflict. She will also talk about diagnosis and treatment. Clare will explain how concussion guidelines have changed in recent years and what Raritan Bay Medical Center is doing to make sure that coaches and parents have the critical information they need to ensure the safety of their athletes and children.
In the second segment, Dr. Nina Regevik, the Co-Director of the Division of Integrative Medicine at Raritan Bay Medical Center, will discuss what integrative medicine is and how it can be used to effectively manage pain after surgery. She will highlight the benefits of various therapies such as meditation, reiki and massage. Dr. Regevik will also share a moving story of a patient who benefited from the team approach that is at the core of integrative medicine.
Dr. Salem Samra, a plastic surgeon at Raritan bay Medical Center, will talk about free flap breast reconstruction and some of the surprising benefits of this type of procedure for women. He will also take us through what a typical recovery is like and what patients can anticipate when having this type of surgery. Dr Samra is involved in international medical work and is the President of the Syrian American Medical Society. He will share details of the work he did last summer in Jordan, operating on Syrian refugees that had been injured in the war.
