CEO Arvin Lal addresses the Lea-Ann Ellison controversy, says she did everything right.

I commend her and I hope she inspires people in the fitness community to be like her.

Lea-Ann Ellison has come under intense media and online scrutiny for continuing to take part in CrossFit exercises until the last week of her pregnancy. Arvin Lal, chief executive officer of SHREDZ Supplements, has spoken out in her defense, saying that she handled herself better than most people in the fitness community.

“There are two things that we always stress, as a company and in the fitness community: always consult a physician and listen to your body. From all accounts that I have read and seen, it sounds like Ellison did both of those things, so no one has the right to tell her that she did anything wrong.”

WebMD says that regular physical activity during pregnancy can help mothers stay healthy and feel like they are at their best. It can improve posture and ward off common pregnancy issues like back pain and fatigue.

Being the head of a rising fitness company and the leader of the largest social media fitness community, #SHREDZARMY, Lal says people can learn a lesson from Ellison.

“SHREDZ has recently inked a sponsorship with CrossFit athlete Jonathan Coyle and my eyes have been opened to the intensity and dedication it takes to even be an average Crossfitter. Ellison continued to have that passion and drive and delivered a healthy baby boy. That shows a love and care for herself, her baby and her body that most professional athletes don’t even exhibit. I commend her and I hope she inspires people in the fitness community to be like her.”
