Nationwide Title Clearing, Inc. (NTC) Continues CSR Activities With Successful “Light the Night Walk”—Event Raised Over $77,000 for Cancer Research
Palm Harbor, FL (PRWEB) December 02, 2013 -- Nationwide Title Clearing, Inc. (NTC), a leading research and document production company, recently participated in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s “Light the Night Walk” fundraising event. The charity walk, which is hosted in nearly two hundred communities across North America, was held on Nov. 9, 2013. NTC employees contributed to Tampa Bay’s combined total of $77,798 raised, to be put towards cancer patient support services, advocacy for lifesaving treatments and cancer research. NTC was the sixth-highest corporate team fundraiser in Pinellas County.
For more than 60 years, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) has been solely focused on people who have blood cancers. However, LLS-funded advances are also helping patients beyond those for whom they were originally developed, including people with solid tumors and auto-immune diseases. Over the past decade, nearly 50 percent of the cancer drugs approved by the FDA were approved as treatments for blood cancer patients—twelve are already approved for additional cancer diseases beyond the scope of their first developments. Presently, the organization has more than $250 million (all provided by generous donors) committed to research across the United States and in ten other countries (1).
While NTC’s clientele in the residential mortgage banking industry are located throughout the nation, NTC’s executives and employees are active in helping out in Tampa Bay’s philanthropic initiatives—because of cancer’s far-reaching effects and devastation, NTC has largely dedicated its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts to funding extensive cancer research. The company compiled a team of 14 employees, called “The Night Crawlers,” to lead fundraising for the Light the Night Walk. NTC held company bake sales and other fundraisers within the company, and as a result, NTC was the sixth-highest corporate team fundraiser at the event this year.
“It’s part of the NTC culture to give back to the local community,” said John Hillman, CEO of NTC. “Our employees love helping—and we’ve all been touched by cancer in some way, which inspires us to contribute to this cause.”
NTC employees are regularly involved in local community events, and the company has participated in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Palm Harbor event for four consecutive years, amassing a collective lifetime fundraising total of over $43,000 to date.
