The Florida Hospital Tampa Wound Healing Institute Receives Accreditation from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS)
(PRWEB) November 27, 2013 -- Florida Hospital Tampa announced today that its Wound Healing Institute received accreditation by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS), a program that recognizes clinical hyperbaric facilities demonstrating commitment to patient care and facility safety. The Florida Hospital Tampa Wound Healing Institute received zero recommendations from UHMS which means from a clinical and safety perspective, there were no recommendations for improvement. The Wound Healing Institute also received many compliments on Program leadership, medical leadership, patient satisfaction results and the tremendous integration of the program within the hospital. In Hillsborough County, there are only 3 accredited facilities and they are all in the Florida Hospital system and managed by Innovative Healing Systems.

A survey team comprised of a physician, nurse and technician from the UHMS spent one week reviewing and surveying the hyperbaric chamber. The team also examined 25 different focus areas including compliance with the State and local codes for the facility, patient safety, adequacy of the chamber and equipment, staff training and quality of care. The Florida Hospital Tampa Wound Healing Institute brings together a team of physicians, nurses and certified technologists to provide individualized treatment plans and comprehensive therapies to treat problem or chronic wounds. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatment allows the body’s natural wound-healing mechanisms, which are oxygen dependent, to function more efficiently.
