Everyday Queenslanders have the chance to nominate and vote for their favourite volunteers via the Heritage Bank Facebook page or website.
Heritage Bank CEO Mr John Minz said the awards are a great way to say “thanks” for the countless hours put in by volunteers throughout Queensland.
“Without volunteers many of the important services and groups who improve our economic, cultural and social lives would not exist,” Mr. Minz said.
“As a community-minded bank, we look forward to hosting activities such as the Volunteer of the Year Award and we are pleased to highlight the wonderful work done by volunteers,” he said.
“We’ve already got some very worthy individuals having been nominated and they’re now relying on the public to vote them to number one on the leaderboard.”
Nominations close on 31 January, while voting will remain open for an extra week and close on 7 February 2014. Winners will be announced on Tuesday 11 February 2014.
Prizes:
• The volunteer with the highest number of public votes will receive $10,000 for their organisation and $1,000 for themselves.
• Two runner-up volunteers as voted by the public will win $1,000 for their organisation and $100 each for themselves.
• One volunteer will receive The People first Award of $1,000 for their organisation and $100 for themselves. This will be awarded by Heritage Bank to the volunteer who best embodies the Heritage values of integrity, excellence and community.
