More and more people are looking for mobility solutions that are easy to incorporate into their current home so they can stay in the home they love,” said Marcel Bourassa, President and CEO of Savaria.

Thousands of ageing home owners are faced with the dilemma of moving because they worry about falling while using the stairs, or they simply find it very challenging as a result of decreased mobility. The Stairfriend can relieve this anxiety and give back the freedom of enjoying barrier-free life in the home.
For a perfect fit, a Stairfriend installation starts with a measuring session done by a qualified Savaria dealer. A photo-based measuring system ensures that even the most complex staircases are precisely measured. A series of staircase photos are migrated to a computer-aided drawing system at Savaria that enables the company to produce and deliver a custom-built rail system from its North American facility in a matter of weeks. Installation by the Savaria dealer can usually be completed in a matter of hours.
“Our investment in specialized equipment and software to produce Stairfriend came as a result of market demand. More and more people are looking for mobility solutions that are easy to incorporate into their current home so they can stay in the home they love,” said Marcel Bourassa, President and CEO of Savaria.
Stairfriend is battery powered with built-in charging stations and has a capacity of 350 lbs. Two seat styles are available and the entire unit is finished in light beige. The rail can be built to provide an out-of-the-way parking station and the seat and footrest fold up compactly to save space. The Stairfriend can also be ordered to comply with commercial requirements in the US and Canada and is the first curved stairlift to be approved by the RBQ in Quebec. Stairfriend is available through authorized Savaria dealers in the U.S. and Canada. For more information, to locate a nearby dealer, or to watch an informational video, visit Savaria.com.
