Crazy 88 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the Baltimore area's top producer of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), and Muay Thai Kickboxing competitors, has recently announced the hire of professional MMA fighter, Aung La Nsang. As a highly experienced Mixed Martial Artist, Nsang will be taking over the role of head MMA instructor of their Frederick location. Nsang has fought in many high level MMA promotions such as Bellator and CFFC. He will bring a new wealth of knowledge and experience into the training facility at Frederick which will have a profound effect on the students of this location.
Mixed Martial Arts is a style of fighting in which the fighters are allowed to use any fighting style they choose. Most of the fighters use a mix of either boxing, wrestling, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Judo. The idea is to create as close to a real fight as possible within reason. The sport first gained popularity in the early 90's with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Now it is watched and practiced worldwide, and continues to grow.
Run by Master Julius Park, Crazy 88 BJJ started as a small BJJ program inside of a fitness gym in 2005. Eight years later, the main location in Elkridge has expanded to 15,000 square feet, and now two other locations are growing in Owings Mills and Frederick. This martial arts academy has been responsible for producing international and world champions in BJJ, high level Muay Thai fighters, as well as professional grade MMA fighters. It is the only program in the Baltimore area consistently producing this volume and level of talent.
Aung La Nsang is a veteran of the sport of MMA. With over 20 fights at the professional level, he has much more experience than the average martial arts instructor. He also holds many placements at IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation) tournaments as well as NAGA (North American Grappling Assocation) competitions. Most martial arts instructor do not have this much experience applying the techniques that they teach, giving Nsang a valuable perspective that he imparts well to his students.
With the Frederick and Owings Mills programs growing, Crazy 88 BJJ is becoming one of the top schools in the nation. The addition of Aung La Nsang to the Frederick program is a change that will bring excellent results to the program and students who train there. Fellow instructor and BJJ world medalist, Keith Cebula, said, "Aung La is bringing a great energy into the program. The students really appreciate his ability to simplify the techniques, making them much easier to understand and apply."
