Union County Arts Co-Op Hosting Holiday Open House
Maynardville, TN (PRWEB) November 30, 2013 -- If you’re searching for treasure in your own backyard, look no further than Main Street in Maynardville for creative goods of stunning beauty and utility. Union County Arts, located two doors north of the courthouse in the historic Dr. Carr home, is a gift shop and art gallery housing hand-made goods for every budget. Opened in 2012 with just a handful of artists and crafters, the gallery and gift shop now features the work of over 30, all from Union County.
Susan Boone opened the shop after volunteering at the art and quilt shows at the Union County Heritage Festival for several years. It was during that time she heard from artists and craftspeople that there was a real need for a place to display and sell their beautiful pieces all year long. The shop is filled with original art and prints along with functional and unusual home goods. Quilts, pottery, hand-crafted furniture, baby and children’s items, jewelry, photography and much more can also be found at Union County Arts.
Boone and members are truly building an arts community within Union County. Along with providing a permanent, high quality retail setting, Union County Arts is also an educational venue. On the first Saturday of every month they feature an Artist of the Month from 11-1 to demonstrate and discuss their work. The co-op also hosts classes in a variety of arts, crafts and music. Every Thursday from 11-1 the shop features live music.
Union County Arts is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 – 4. You can also find them at http://www.facebook.com/UCArtsCoop. "There is so much talent right here in our own county and it’s so wonderful to share and celebrate these crafters and artists," says Boone. The shop will have a holiday open house on Saturday, November 30th in conjunction with the Union County tree lighting ceremony. Please join them for homemade goodies, hot cider and live music. Or sooner than that, wander down Main Street in your own backyard to find treasures and special gifts for the holidays or any occasion.
