The American College of Sports Medicine recently released the list of the top 20 fitness trends for 2014 and SHREDZ® Supplements Chief Executive Officer Arvin Lal says that his company and social media movement is already attacking those trends, but warns against jumping on fitness bandwagons.

Lal and his all-natural, gluten-free fitness supplement company are at the forefront of the largest social media movement in the fitness industry, so he makes it a point to stay with, and ahead of, most trends in fitness. He says that a lot of the trends on ACSM’s list are things that #SHREDZArmy, the name of SHREDZ’s community within fitness, are already doing.

"Looking at the list, two things jump out at me. People are moving away from pushing weights to build muscle and they are going toward functional workouts that create overall health and improve quality of life. And, people are realizing that fitness is easier to commit to, and more fun, when done in groups. Those two points are almost the foundation of what the SHREDZ movement is all about: fitness being more than a hobby and being accountable to yourself and to others."

Lal also says to be careful when it comes to following trends.

“An important thing to realize when reading this list is to remember that you have to do what is best for your body in the long run, not just what is popular right now or in the future. I have been at the forefront of trends in fitness and I know, first-hand, how fast this industry and the fitness community move from idea to idea. Consistency is the key to your fitness progress.”
