Tandem Light Press, an independent publishing company based in the Atlanta area, announces the 2014 schedule of classes for its Empowered Writers Academy. The focus of the academy is to help authors and aspiring authors hone in on their craft and better understand the business side of the publishing industry to position themselves for greater exposure and success.

"There is so much information available regarding how to become an author, or how to make money at it, that it can all become confusing and overwhelming," says Empowered Writers Academy founder, Dr. Pamela Antoinette Larde. "These workshops help both new and experienced writers so that they do not have to go through the process of living their dreams and becoming a published author alone."

Seminar titles include: Write That Book This Year!; Act Like a Writer, Think Like an Entrepreneur; Ten Ways to Make Money Outside of Book Sales; and Design Your Own Author Website.

"Writers who desire to publish and promote their work have so many resources at their fingertips. Some want to do it all themselves, and others want a publishing company to handle everything from beginning to end," says Dr. Pam. "Writers on both ends of the spectrum need to understand what they are getting themselves into and what is available to them." The Empowered Writers Academy fills the void and answers the questions: "How do I go from a great idea to a great book?" and "Do I want to self-publish or traditionally publish?" The advancements of the world wide web and modern technology has given authors more power and opportunity to connect directly with their audiences more than ever before.

"Many more people now have the honor of saying that they are authors," Dr. Pam continues, "But are these authors, particularly those who are publishing their own work, following a standard of excellence? Or are they publishing to merely say that they have a book with their names on it? It is time for aspiring authors, whether they aspire to self-publish or traditionally publish, to understand the importance of holding themselves to a higher standard. This is essential for their own credibility, and it is essential to the integrity of the profession."

The Empowered Writers Academy is a great way to gain knowledge and new ideas with other authors who have similar goals and interests. Two types of workshops are offered. Free two-hour workshops and $75 full-day seminars. All sessions are held over the weekend and are packed with information participants can use immediately. Whether a participant is ready to move forward to get his or her work published or wants to simply learn how to get started on a book idea, there is a session available that can provide this information.
