Canvas Wins Bronze in ‘Best in Biz’ Awards 2013
Reston, VA (PRWEB) December 03, 2013 -- Canvas, the global leader in mobile apps for businesses, today announced it has been named a bronze winner in the ‘Most Socially or Environmentally Responsible Company of the Year’ category in Best in Biz Awards, the only independent business awards program judged by members of the press and industry analysts.
Canvas was honored for its Ante Up program, which encourages Canvas employees to identify a nonprofit initiative or need that they are interested in, and then to support that initiative by providing free Canvas services in the form of mobile app development, the employee’s time to help train the organization on how best to implement Canvas, and other resources for nonprofits to more effectively leverage mobile technology.
The third annual Best in Biz Awards program, focusing on companies based or operating in North America, was the most competitive in its history, with the highest number of awards submissions to date and the most distinguished judging panel yet assembled.
“Canvas is honored that Best in Biz has recognized the profound impact Ante Up is having on organizations as diverse in mission and geography as the Washington West Film Festival in Washington, DC – which used Canvas mobile apps to sell merchandise and accept donations – to the oldest South African Reserve using Canvas to combat Rhino poaching,” said James Quigley, co-founder and chief executive officer, Canvas. “From the organizations we support to the products we develop, social and environmental responsibility is ingrained in our company’s DNA, and we look forward to continuing to extend the impact of Ante Up.”
Canvas enables organizations of all sizes – ranging from Fortune 100 firms and nonprofit organizations to one-person businesses – to replace cumbersome paper forms with highly customizable mobile business apps that work on nearly every smartphone and tablet on the market. The company’s Application Store now has more than 11,000 ready-made apps that can be customized to an individual business user's needs, and Canvas also offers a do-it-yourself app builder toolkit enabling non-technical users to build mobile apps in minutes.
“This year’s Best in Biz Awards nominees offer services and products that reflect the most current trends in technology, from cloud computing through mobile devices to network connectivity,” said Samara Lynn, lead analyst of networking and business at PC Magazine, judging her second Best in Biz Awards program. “Truly, all of the nominees and winners represent the ongoing innovation and trends in technology that we who cover the space see on a daily basis.”
Best in Biz Awards 2013 honors were presented in more than 50 categories, including Company of the Year, Fastest-Growing Company of the Year, Most Innovative Company of the Year, Best Place to Work, Technology Department of the Year, Executive of the Year, Most Innovative Product of the Year, Best New Product of the Year, PR Campaign of the Year and Website of the Year.
